Default Greetings From (Athens), (Georgia) USA

Greetings from Athens, Georgia,

I haven't picked up James Bondo yet but joined a little while back to start learning about the XK8. I'm doing a fly n' buy next Sunday - flying from Atlanta to Chicago and then hopefully taking a scenic route back home. The direct route is about 775 miles.

James doesn't really have any Bondo on it but it has been assessed TWO salvage titles in recent times. Are any of you shaking your heads yet? No structural damage and the repairs totalled around $2500. The nose needs paint and or replacement and the bonnet has a few dings.

Anywho, I'm a GrassRootsMotorsports.com guy and the previous three owners are also so I have a pretty solid history of James including repairs with pictures. Basically very solid and, of course, a few items to rectify.

Thanks for being here and I look forward to pestering you guys,
Hasbro
Oh, turning 67 on flight day, finished chemo a few months ago, and this is my first trip since so a kind of a big deal for me. Excited!

Welcome to the forums Hasbro,

Good to have you with us.

Someone has got seriously upset with the front bumper. Fortunately it's not deformed so should be repairable.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ed-v8-x200-15/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Lower Atlantic Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/u...r-atlantic-66/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums, enjoy the trip and continue to enjoy good health.

Thanks Graham, a tree branch came down on the front bumper, left fender, bonnet, and also broke the windshield. This caused the second salvage title. The bumper will be one of my first endeavors at getting the car up to snuff.

The Jaguar recommended product for bumper repair is 3M '5900 FPRM' (Flexible part repair material). The paint refinishing system must be suitable for polyurethane substrate application. It's essential that the finishing clear lacquer includes a plasticising ingredient to achieve the 'semi-flex' condition of the factory originally finished item.
