Default Hello Jaguar fam.

My name is James "Hustle" Hyde and I have a 2002 X-type Jaguar 3.0 that needs a lot of work done to it. Hopefully by the end of this summer, I will have my car in the condition I dream of having it. I joined this forums to get the expertise I need to troubleshoot any problems I may run into during this process.

I love Jaguars and know that it takes a lot of love and care to own one.

A brief description about me is I am a music studio producer and web designer from Austin Texas. I have been into custom cars my whole life and I have lots of plans for my Jag to give it a new modern and unique look. But getting everything mechanical working perfect is my main goal right now, then we can get to the fun part!

Welcome to the forum James,

The 'lots of work' sounds ominous. I'd been expecting it was only Cat trouble.

Here's a direct link X-Type - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X-Type section. It's the place for help, advice and information on your model. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Southwest Region section by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/southwest-us-az-tx-nm-ok-37/ to find other members in your region.

Here's hoping it doesn't take too long to get to the fun part!

Enjoy the X-Type and the forum.

Graham

Yes the main problem is replacing the cat converters so it can pass inspection and clear check engine light. Hopefully that's it.

Other stuff I need fixed is minor and cosmetic. (tune up, window on driver side, paint, etc.)

James,

Have you had the codes read to be absolutely certain the Cats are toast?

Yes, 3 different times, 3 different computers... the cats are super clogged up for sure.

I will be buying the whole exhaust system with cats included tomorrow and my mechanic will try to put it in. its from a 2005 jag with only 50k miles. My car has 120k miles so i decided to replace the whole exhaust system since Im getting it all for $200 and the seller said his car was in top working condition with no check engine light on when he wrecked the front end. He is also throwing in the window regulator I need for free.

Hopefully it will all work out. It will definitely save me a ton of money.
