Help with X16???
HI
I am looking to buy a Jaguar sedan probably the XJ6 but not sure of the best year to buy. There is a guy selling a 1985 near me with only 47K miles on it for $5000. The problem is he swears it is an X16(I haven't looked at it yet but talked to him over the phone) . Did Jaguar make an X16 i see no reference for this. Please let me know. He also claims it was the last one built by Jaguar before ford took over. Is this a good one to buy.

The only Jaguar X16 I've heard of is the C-X16 hybrid electric sports concept Jaguar had on their stand at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2011.
If the vendor is claiming it was pre-Ford and 1985 then I'd expect he has an XJ6 Series III built from 1979 to 1992.

I want to look at the car it is and xj6 ( he still thinks it is an x16) 1989 and I know think an xj40. It has 47k miles in really good shape 8 or 9 out of 10 and everything works .

That is an XJ40 produced from 1986-94.
What happened to the 1985 from your first post - did he get that wrong too?
