Recent Jaguar owner learning the hard way about DMFs, having already gone through the rite of passage re sticky turbos and locking wheel-nuts with missing keys. That will teach me to be a high mileage (200,000) 2008 facelift X-Type Estate privately. It's booked in at a Jaguar specialist for a new DMF, which is going to be painful, but the hope is that this one will see me right for as long as I own the car.
On the bright side the engine feels strong, running gear is in good condition, brakes are sharp and handling is a revelation – if a little loud on the moderately low profile tyres – and the interior looks more like a 20,000 mile car with all electrics and electronics working as they should. Pity Bluetooth doesn't extend beyond the phone to streaming audio, but you can't have everything.
Background is a couple of Rover 75s, some big Citroens – I like front wheel drive – and lots and lots of motorbikes of the torquey American kind (okay, so I like rear wheel drive too, in the right circumstances): my day job is as the part owner and editor of the UK's only magazine dedicated to American V-Twin motorcycles.
Cheers Really hoping that there is only one folly in this picture: Mow Cop castle
Jaguar had some issues with 3-letter acronyms on this model - when it wasn't the DPF giving trouble then it was the DMF. I hope the flywheel fix is the end of the problems because it looks a tidy example.

Yes, I've lost track of some already! Hoping that the DPF will have been sorted out by the treatment for the variable pitch turbo and a DSC warning flashed up on my first journey, but hasn't been seen since – and after working the traction control button a few times, anticipating a dry joint or poor connection :-)
Just as long as it's not DOA ... in which case I will be VAI (very angry indeed!)
Will play with the sig when I have a minute or two: it will be ... errr, random.
Hello, Andy,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar! I'm sorry it's already got into your checking account to such an extent.
