I just drove my "new" 1-owner black convertible XK8 home today, and am anxious to know about the upgrades and stuff that breaks. (Already read about the headrest cable fix). I am an engineer and high school math teacher by education and carburetor restoration expert by experience. I am selling my 1995 Impala SS to make room for the XK8. I rebuild and restore about 500-600 CORVAIR carburetors each year and as such am the largest vendor for this niche in the world. I have done a few SU's and a lot of American 2 and 4 BBL carbs over the past 15 years or so. I will be retiring from teaching in June, but will be living off my pension as a manager in a prior career in the Paper Products industry (P&G, GaPac, IntPaper) and social security (which is more than my teacher pay).

Hello, Grant,
I have been told that carburetor work has become something of a black art with the advent of EFI. I'm glad to know there's still someone out there who understands these devices and can make a faulty one work.

Congratulations on the acquisition of your XK8!

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Default Thanks to all

Thank you all for the welcome notes. Still learning what all the buttons do and discovered that the heated seats don't work (but not a big deal in FL). My login comes from my business name of Wolf Enterprises.

The heated seats in the 2005 XK8 are controlled through the Seat Modules and not just by direct harness connection. Cracks in the tracks on circuit boards are common with the Seat Modules as a result of the flexing of the plastic case.

Thanks. I will probably check them out when I repair the headrest cables. The memory settings also do not work. First owners manual I have seen that does not have fuse location chart.

Grant,

The full Vehicle Document Sets for all XK8 model years are available in PDF format from:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...006-faq-67827/

As you don't yet have sufficient posts to download PDF's from the forum, here's the direct link to my MediaFire account to download the section from the Driver's Handbook with fuse details for your model:

http://www.mediafire.com/view/2d4rxh..._Emergency.pdf

See Sections 6-18 and 6-21
