Smile My first Jag! 97 XJ6-L

Hello everyone!
I'm from the Detroit area, and have never owned a Jaguar before, but always wanted one. I became interested in the car below because it was very low mileage, was rust free, and was the long wheel base model. I'm looking forward to being part of many threads. Below are the details and some pictures of my new used car, will need some work for sure but runs and drives perfectly.

1997 XJ6-L 4.0L
52000 miles
It seems this is a rare combination, being an XJ6 with the 4.0L and LWB. Wikipedia says 1 of 203.

Originally owned by the DeBartolo family (the owners of the 49ers). I didn't really believe that story until I started to look closer at the car. Notice the bar code on the rear window automatic gates. The rear of the car is completely tinted out. CarFax shows the car was registered in several places the DeBartolo family owned property including California, Florida, and then Ohio. I tried to google pictures of their Ohio mansion but did not find any photos of the car on the property unfortunately.

Yes the car has a few issues, but I you'll being hearing about those in my future posts I'm sure

Welcome to the forums Rustbelter,

Good to have you with us.

There may have only been 203 XJ6 LWB in the USA but total production was 4973 which is still not a lot. There were only 305 of the 3.2 litre LWB produced. Total X300 production (all variants ) was 92,038.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ed-v8-x200-15/ to the X300 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Midwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-midwest-39/ to find other members in your region.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Welcome. I had a '98 XJ8 with the 4.0L. If not already looked into or done, may want to check the cam chain tensioners. I miss our XJ, such a comfortable ride.

Welcome and thanks for the photos! I think I'm looking at British Racing Green (solid color) as opposed to the similar Spruce Green (metallic)? Looks very similar to my retired Vanden Plas. I really like the look with the dark tint. A nice find for you with such low mileage. Good job.
