Default new ember seeking advise on XK8's

I'm DD-42, allow me to introduce myself. An old friend introduced me to the Jaguar automobile, an XK 120, vintage 1952 fixed head coupe to be exact, back in the year of 1960. Living in the U.S., I, up until that time only had driven American monsters. One ride in his XK changed my driving world forever. Over the years I've actually never owned a Jaguar. My first "foreign" car was a 1959 Moretti 750 cc GT. The most exotic car I've ever owned, although I didn't realize it at the time. On this machine I taught myself how to maintain and repair cars. I've owned at various times in my life a 1956 Porsche Speedster, an Alfa Romeo 1300cc Spyder, an 1980 Datsun 280ZX, 2 vintage Mercedes Benz sedans, a 1968 Chevy Camaro, a 1975 Pontiac Firebird, and for the last 26 years a 1977 Chevy Corvette. All maintained by me. At long last it's time for me to finally get a Jag. I'm going to be in the market for an XK8 or XKR early next year. I'll be looking for a 2003 to 2006 model. I'm a bit nervous about the Jaguar's reputation though, but what the heck, why not a Jag. In any case glad to be a new member of this forum, DD-42

Default new ember seeking advise on XK8's

Forum Members;
As a New Member interested in purchasing my first Jaguar any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. After the New Year I'll be looking for a 2003 -2006 model XK8 or XKR Coupe. My primary concern is to get the most reliable XK that I can. If it's not a Coupe, then of course I'd take a Roadster model. Of the years in question (2003-2006) which do you believe are the most trouble free. Thank you in advance for any information you can give me. DD-42

Welcome.

The Stickies etc at the very top of the XK8 (X100) Tech section should give you a primary heads up, then the people in your market, can add those specific items to the mix.

Welcome to the forum dd-42,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

The later the better is a good general rule and by 2003 the early issues were largely resolved with development. With any Jaguar, service history is crucial. These vehicles will bite if neglected so question any gaps in the maintenance which should be every 10K Miles OR 12 Months (whichever comes sooner).

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

You can also visit the US Southwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-southwest-37/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
