Talking New to this forum, about to buy an F-Type

Hi,

I'm Dan and I live in the Netherlands, one of the smaller countries in Europe, in between Germany and the United Kingdom.... .... yes, the capital is Amsterdam, correct !

I am thinking of buying an F-Type. On my search for specific info I steadily ended up on this forum. I own a LR 3 for many years and started out to look for a replacement. I didn't like the D5 one bit and just tried out every model in the JLR showroom and decided the F-Type suited my posture best... Now I configered a car on line and selected 'seatpack 2' , identical specs for 4 cylinder / V6 / V8 models ; same price, same picture in the configurator... But as far as I can find out, the 4-pot doesn't come with the bolster function, only the V6/V8, although they charge the same money. Easy answer : get a V6... Sadly I live in W-Europe in a country run by car haters and they charge $ 40.000 on top for CO2 emissions on the V6 [ V8 is much more]. So I nearly pay in taxes only what you lot pay for the whole car...

I checked the USA configurator, to find out the [optional] 'seat pack 2' is standard on your side of the pond ' 12-way electric front seats with memory ' ... And looking around in the interior : the bolster turn button is not there... ..in the two liter car.
And if I select the 'performance seats' ; the interior looks the same, no 'bolster button' and also the same seat description...

So I checked the 400 sport, it also has the ' 12-way electric front seats with memory ' as standard, but is also has the 'bolster button' ...

Does anybody know why/how this is like this ? And how do I get this ' bolster button ' in my configuration ?

PS.
I have read on this forum that 2013 cars had the bolster option in the sport seats, but as of 2017 they don't seem to appear anymore in sport seats, or this is only in the 4-pot...
Dealers here don't sell so many cars that they notice, and many clients just go straight for the performance seats anyway...

Welcome.

The F Type people will have the answers, but the Europe link will be thin, maybe the UK cars are closer to your spec?.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forum Dan,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

The bolster button is usually only available on the top specification seats. I have it in my XK Signature. Clearly an incentive to encourage customers to go for the higher spec, more expensive, versions of their model choice! A very useful feature to allow the seat back to be set to the exact lateral support required.

Hi,

Thanks for your responses ! I've learned a lot since I joined, the last few days It turns out the bolster stopped in the 2016 edition : in the 2017 model on, its not available anymore...

The new performance seats are supposed to have superior lateral support, so 'they' consider bolsters to be obsolete... Subtitle : the chairs are made thinner to allow > 1.90m clients to sit without gettin a cramp in their leggs,
now seats are to thin to allow the addtion of a bolster...

The pre 2017 models are not an option for me as most do not have DAB+ , the only way to listen to the radio from 2019 onwards. Also traffic sign recognition is thin on the ground and of essence to me given the
ludicrous fines they issue in Ch/UK/Fr lately..

So my purchase is delayed until the perfect used surfaces, or I get a tempting offer from my dealer. If not , I'll hold on until june and see what the 2019 models have to offer. Probably DAB standard, LED-pixel option,
and new colours and wheels... ..and BRG/AINTREE will go out and come back as a € 5000 option like the did with LR cars...

But I'll be around this forum watching developments with an eager eye..

Question : the 'how to'page explains how to unsubscribe from threads, but I don't get any notification from all messages added above, also not in my spam folder..
