Default New Jag owner- 2004 S-Type

Hello all...

I just bought my wife her "dream car". She has wanted a red Jaguar S-Type for several years now, and we just purchased a 2004 pre-owned vehicle with the "Radiance" finish. It looks great and the ride is smooth.

We had it checked out by a local jag mechanic and there were a few items that needed to be addressed (along with high miles) but no engine/drivetrain problems, the price was right, and the appearance was beautiful so we picked it up yesterday.

I am sure I will be bugging the heck out of some of you for assistance as I find my way around this new (to us) vehicle. I have included a few pics below.

I personally drive a 2005 Ford Excursion 4X4 w/6.0 Powerstroke Diesel so I am familiar with high prices at the dealer shop (how does $100.00 for an oil change sound!) and I tend to try repairs at home before opening up my wallet at the shop.

Talk to you all soon...

Brice

Welcome, you're in good company. I would venture 99% here feel the same way. Not everything can be, unfortunately. Diagnosis is still best left to the dealers on these things, but general maintenance, and some not-so-general can be achieved even by peasants like myself.

I bet the wife wants to take her new car out everywhere you both travel. Am I right? Hey, think about the gas savings over that big diesel.

Thanks for the welcome.

Gas savings is a plus! It appears to be averaging about 6 mpg better than the diesel but the ride is MUCH nicer than my truck.

I am having a hard time prying her out of the seat... Lots of excuses to go places now!

best thing to do is become friends with someone that does oil changes to these types of vehicles, I recently bought a 2003 Jaguar Xtype and had my long term mechanic charge me 20 bucks for an oil change granted this was from the firestone store itself. Connections nowadays are everything and it will save you thousands in the long run , Im new to the forums too either way welcome and enjoy the jag , Cuz I am in love with mine

LOL, I wish I could get an oil change for $20 where I live! The going rate around here is $30 for just a basic oil change. But that's just part of the cost of living here, unfortunately…
