Smile New Jag owner / member intro

Hi, my name is Gary and I've just purchased my first Jag. It's a 2006 XKR conv. with 70k miles and a long story shortened, I bought the car in Las Vegas 3 weeks ago whilst on vacation!

My last 5 car purchaes have all been new Porsches and I wanted a change for my summer toy (I just sold my 2012 911 GTS cab) and hopefully the Jag won't cost me "an arm and a leg" for fun in the sun.

I live about 35 mins north of Philadelphia in a small town called Skippack and hopefully I can learn about my "new toy" on the forum and add a little as my Jag ownership experience grows.

Welcome to the forum Gary,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums. A successful vacation in LV!

2006 was a model changeover year. If you have the earlier steel bodied XKR, follow this link XK8 / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information.
If you have the current aluminium bodied model, follow this link XK / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK/XKR forum. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top of each is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

You can also visit the US North East Region forum by following this link North East US - ME NH VT MA RI CT NJ NY PA - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Welcome, Gary! The XKR will be a great option to the Ultraglide on sunny days!

Cheers,

Vegas was fun (as always) I'm not a big gambler (and I'm hoping my Jag purchase doesn't turn out to be one, a gamble that is!) but I did find a cool looking toy and I believe it's prior life in the desert should at least provide a corrosion free start for me.

Mine is the original steel bodied car, I believe the manufacture date was mid year 2005, but registered here in June 2006. There was a pretty big price jump for the later gen aluminium bodied XKR's and this is my attempt at a "cheaper" fun in the sun toy. When I've figured out how to post pictures, I'll post one of the car.

I've had a quick look at the US North East region and I actualy have a local independant garage (recommended by another Jag owner) that I'm trying next week for it's Pa state inspection and a quick service etc and I'll post some commentary on their level of service etc when I get the car back.

I also installed some fresh tires yesterday and when I find the appropriate forum area, I'll post a review

But doesn't everything from Vegas have to stay in Vegas?
