New Jag Owner - Well actually a new owner of an Old Jag (1998 XJ8)
Hi, after wanting a jaguar for over 30 years I finally got one. I have wanted a jag every since I was 14 and saw Edward Woodward had a black xj6 jag. He was the actor that played the Equilizer on the TV show - he seemed like the coolest most sophisticated guy on the planet and that is what he drove -so that car must be the coolest most sopisticated car on the planet.
The jag I found was sort of a barn find - I was looking for a summer vehicle to drive and went to look at a 2006 cadillac and saw the guy had a 1998 Vandden Plas XJ8 (308) sitting covered in dust under a carport. The caddy only got a 2 minute look over - and the rest of the time spent on the jag.
I used this forum a lot to research potential issues with this jag before I decided to buy it. At the time I was also looking at a 1972 XJ6 and a 2006 XJ8 VDP. Decided on the 1998 because of price and zero rust, and only 59,000 miles.
3 years of dust and no activity -this jag was originally from Florida but spent the last 3 years in Western NY
I am getting ready to post a few questions about this Jag for help
After a wash, new tires and this jag's first 40 or so miles of driving of the last 4 years
