Default New Jaguar owner from North Carolina

Though born in England, I have lived in North Carolina for many years. I have just bought a 1999 XJ8 off ebay as a project car. This is my first Jaguar, but I have worked on a variety of cars over the years. The car was sold as a non-starter, but otherwise in good condition. I have resolved the non-starting - bad fuel pump. Replacing the fuel pump was relatively easy except for the quick release connectors under the diff - those were a pain.

Having now got the car started, I discovered that it will go into park, reverse and neutral, but will not go into drive. On to fixing the next problem with the help from the folks on the forums.

Welcome to the forum smaunder,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I can see you have already found your way to the X308 tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Lower Atlantic Region forum by following this link USA Lower Atlantic - NC SC FL GA - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.
