I've inherited a fairly decent, high mileage 1998 XK8 from my father who sadly passed away recently. It's a beautiful car and I dearly want to keep her as a weekend runabout in memory of my parents, but I'm fearful of it becoming a money pit and want to try to learn to deal with issues as they arise wherever possible, rather than spend a fortune at garages. I've managed to get her running on 8 cylinders again (for the time-being) and she sounds lovely.
She was stored under cover for the past few years and was caught out in the rain this week for the first time in ages. The passenger side (left - I'm in the UK) is very wet from a newly discovered rust hole in the roof drain channel above the passenger door. There are a few other signs of rust along the channel (in addition to the rear wheel arch - a job for another day) and was hoping that there might be a video somewhere where someone shows how to remove the trim safely so that I can start on repairs. I might be using the incorrect terminology, but can't find anything, so thought I'd ask you lovely people here.
Picture below shows two main areas of rust I'm planning to tackle; left hand one is where my leak is. I figure I need to safely get the trim off first to attack it.
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums. I'm sorry to hear it's bereavement that brings you here.
Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Do a search for threads by RaceDiagnostics. Jim's XKR convertible is the most extreme example on the forum and has developed rust just about everywhere possible. His threads are an excellent guide to repair processes.
