New to Me in Atlanta Ga.
Hello everyone,
I picked up my first Jaguar!! My best friend has a 2010 XFR and I test drove it for him before he come up and purchased it, the love affair began.
I have lurked on and off since then on the good and bad if any and my desire to get one..
Well, 3/3/2020 I sealed the deal on a near perfect 2015 Type R with just under 17K miles. I had the pleasure of driving 2 from different dealers, same year and miles last weekend, but carfax was only clean on this one.
LOVE the car, but already today as I was digging through the paper work, I see the Mercedes dealership I got her from changed the oil just before I purchased as they told me... However, they put in 5W 40!! I called the salesman and he said service said no biggie.. it will not hurt anything.
I ordered a mityvac and oil, will be here Sunday, will do it myself!!
I look forward to a long love affair with my F Type and many good conversations here as well.
Thank you for such a good community.
Pete

Hello, Pete,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar!
Good Job changing oil Yourself to be sure you have the right weight.
When I first got my Adequate Vehicle I was short on time when oil change was due so I had someone else do it. That person did Not put in the oil called for by the manufacturer, and in very short order there were unusual engine noises which I'm sure are the result of some damage or other, probably to the variable timing valve train.
I put in the correct oil, and it's better but still not the silent running engine I bought. Live and learn.

Congrats on your new love. The Ian Callum-penned F-Type R is a modern masterwork. A sonic milestone achieved in an era of SUV drivel.
I forgive loooong lites at intersections when behind an F-Type...Welcome to the forums, I'm new too, first message of ten entirely due to your announcement

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome!!..
New proper oil in her and we are both happier now. Just can't get over the balance and power this car has. I have had hot rods my entire life, nothing touches this car. Miles of Smiles
