Hello all!
I'm a new member to this forum, and am just doing a quick intro.
Sadly I don't own a car, but do really hope to own a Jag in the near future. My ideal Jag would be an older XJ Vanden Plas, but being perfectly honest, I'd be happy with any Jaguar. Being a youngish guy, I want one that I can do DIY maintenance, and learn a lot from, but is also reasonably reliable.
My dream would one day to buy an old E-Type and restore it to perfect condition, though sadly the pace and speed of my life doesn't allow for this yet.
As you might imagine, I'm not interested in how fast a car goes, but rather how luxurious the car is. My motto is that while it's fun to go fast, I prefer just to take it slow, and enjoy the experience.
If I were to rate my favourite Jags, my top 5 would be as follows:
1. E-Type
2. XJ - the X300 and X308
3. S-Type
4. New XJ
5. XF
That's about it! I have many questions that I hope you experts will be able to answer, and I hope, one day, to answer questions for others too!
Thank you for your time!

Hello, Ashton,
You never really know which Jaguar you'll own until one of them chooses you and follows you home.
We read in this section often how someone had their heart set on this or that model, until they saw, THE ONE!! It "called to them" and they were Instantly smitten, even though they had No intention of owning that car.
Just wait, THE ONE will come along eventually and even you will be surprised.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forum Ashton,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
From your 'top 5', in my opinion the X300 is the best choice for a first Jaguar. Robust, easy to work on and without the complex electronics of the V8's.
I can see you've already found your way to the X300 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
You can also visit the Canada Region forum by following this link Canada - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
