Hi.
New member, here. I just purchased a lovely 2001 XK8 Coupé in Sapphire Blue. it has a ton of miles (192K km) but is in vg mechanical shape. Aside from some high speed vibrations that are likely due to poor balancing (at 160 kph it's smooth and silent and sweet), and a defunct ABS/TRAC Control module, most of the annoyances are minor: volume knob doesn't work, nor does CD changer. But I can live w/o.
I am pleased to have this forum as I have already diagnosed and fixed a few gremlins (cig. lighter, useful for charging my phone, was dead -- turned out to be a fuse; etc. etc.).
I am looking forward to learning more and contributing when I can.
Cheers,
jhshannon

Hello,
Pretty Car! I've decided my Next Jaguar will be an XK8. Probably a convertible.
Congratulations on all your successful repairs to date!
CD changer: I don't listen to music/radio in any of my vehicles. It only drowns out the sound of things going wrong.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome. I have added pix and some info to my profile.
I am really enjoying my new cat and eager to keep it purring... and, well, growling. V8 after all...
:-)

The ABS / traction control issue might just be a dirty wheel speed sensor or two. They are easy to clean.

Thanks. I will look into this, since that would be a lot easier than removing and replacing the ABS/Traction Control module!

Thanks.
Too bad someone backed into my rear fender and scraped my lovely Sapphire Blue paint!
Argh.

Ouch! Fortunately appears to have just missed the tail light unit.

I had been jealously admiring the generously sized parking bays in your first photo. Clearly not big enough for some of your neighbours.

Yes, I was quite happy that they did not bash the taillight.... Ironically I was concerned with my passenger side neighbor, who parks her ugly SUV very close to the line, and I have a small ding on my door. Then some fool backed into me. Given the curvy shape of these beauties, there's no way I could have run into something and caused this; only someone pulling out could have done this. I am on the lookout for Sapphire Blue Metallic markings on a white car....!
It should buff out ok -- no damage to the actual metal. This time!
(I also got a cover and may get boat fenders!)

Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, here I am, stuck in the middle...

Thanks

I had the same colour combination XK8 a few years ago.

Did several tours across France and Spain in it. A great car.

This photo was taken after a repair to the front bumper. A lorry kicked up a traffic cone which hit it below the headlamp. I expected it to need a new bumper but the repair was undetectable.

Lovely car. I am going to buff my scratches out and hope for the best. In the end I can always aim for a re-spray but would rather avoid that...
