Smile new member intro

Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself. I have been playing around with Jaguars for 35 odd years and still love them. I own a 63 E-Type , a couple of Mark Nines, a XJ8 2005 model and my son who is 17 and I are restoring a 76 XJ6 Coupe. We are planning on restomoding it with the last generation straight six, the AJ16 engine and 4 speed ZF auto. That is my main reason for joining as the electronics are somewhat daunting and I am hoping somebody out there has done this swap and will be able to point me in the right direction when I cry for help. I live in Fresno CA USA. Thanks.

Hello, Simon,
A couple members have done what you plan, theirs came out pretty nice.
You do realize that any changes in power plant will have to be blessed by BAR unless your car was built before January 1, 1976.
I wish you success.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Hello, thanks for the reply. Hopefully I can get in contact with the people that already did the swap, I will do some research on Jaguarforums. I am aware of the B.A.R requirements thanks. We want the car to have full OBD2 diagnostics, so it should pass the check fine. Also there was a bill that passed in 2018 that if you can show that the car is a collector vehicle it just has to pass the sniffer test. Bill AB-1274. Nice XJ by the way.

Thanks, like the long wheelbase XJ6. I had a 1975 and loved its ride quality, I drove it all over California.
