Hello to all the wonderful contributors (and readers) of this forum. After too long just appreciating the goodwill and knowledge here, I finally got around to joining today... I have been a JAGUAR / Daimler devotee from the age of 18, when I saw a beautiful British Racing Green XJ Series 2 gleaming second-hand through the glass of a dealer's showroom. That was in 1987 and she was a 10 year old, a very low kilometre (we use metric measures here in Australia since 1966) ex-company Chairman's car. I was entranced... all these years later (and over 700,000km, roughly 450,000 miles happily driving) I still have her... plus a few more too!
Daimler S2 VDP 1977, JAGUAR Sovereign VDP S3 1984, JAGUAR Mark 2 3.8 manual O/D, JAGUAR S-Type 1999.
Seems you weren't the only one looking in that showroom window!
It sounds like you've already found your way around the forums so there's no need for any links from me.

Thank you Steve, I am very grateful for your good wishes and look forward to becoming a fully-active member of the forum once my "P" plate status is upgraded.
Hello Grant,
Many thanks for the greetings from SA. I really like your tagline about only Jaguars since 1968. Of course, I am definitely biased, but in my opinion you definitely have not missed a thing!
If you haven't done so already you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.

I freely admit my bias, but I truly believe the Series 2 is the most Beautiful of all the Jaguars ever built.
Congratulations on long-term ownership of yours.
You are very kind Elinor. Buying my Series 2 was at once the most impossible and most deliriously gratifying material decision of my life. In those early days at university it was often a choice of "should I pay for food" or "will I put in another tank of petrol" (gasolene). Certainly character building! But we have travelled through all the brightest and darker moments of my life and both of us are still going - I am enormously grateful for that.
As I am also very grateful for your warm welcome. I also agree wholeheartedly with you about the (under-appreciated, in my humble opinion) beauty of the Series 2 - it still takes my breath away every single time...
