Default New member from Kent UK - looking for help

Hi all, Andy from Kent UK here introducing myself.

I have a low mileage Feb 2008 registered 3.0 petrol X Type estate that hasn't been used regularly for 3-4 years, just moved occasionally on the drive.

Never had a problem before but moved the car (with jump battery as the original is duff now) to wash it - started first crank as usual.
However when went to move it again it fired very briefly and stopped. Now it cranks just fine, everything else works but just won't fire up. Has half a tank of (admittedly old but no problem before) gas. Can't hear the fuel pump running.
Going to go through the fuse boxes for a blown fuse and I do have a generic OBD tester which I'll plug in to see if it will talk to it.
Any particular things for me to look out for please before I satrt tearing it apart?
Andy

Welcome to the Forums.

It will be simple, always is.

None of mine are friendly with that start/stop operation. Mainly the V12's,
BUT,
I always let any of them run for at least 5 minutes before shutting down, boring I know, but this later stuff will flood very easily.

Leave it a day or 2, let it dry out, good battery, give it a go.

Much mor info in the X Type X400 Tech Section if that fails.

Good luck.

Hello, Andy,
It sounds like Grant just above, might have the answer, as he's an experienced X-type owner.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Thanks for the welcome chaps - and to Graham for putting my question into the correct forum for me.

Interesting to see similar questions asked by a few but disappointing that they haven't come back to the forum with the result - even if it was nothing more than "Gave up and scrapped the car!"

I will certainly add my findings as I go along in the hope it may help someone else in future.
