Talking New member.. Old timer!

Hi everyone,

I've just joined today as I feel this is a valuable resource for anyone with jaguar issues or comments.
I'm now on my second jag after a break of 14 years!
Last one was a 1984 Series III Sovereign HE, still the smoothest car I can ever remember owning, but also the thirstiest, used to get 7mpg round town, and almost 20 if I drive like I had an egg on the accelerator pedal.

My latest Jag is a 2002 XJ sport 3.2, so a bit less thirsty than the V12!
I am worried by a knock from the rear end, but have isolated it to the rear wheel bearings.
Only question I have is how do I go about changing them!

I look forward to talking with you guys, and learning more about jags along the way.

What can I say.. I like autos!!

Welcome to the forum Dean,

Those V12's are a great engine but they can certainly drink. Not surprised it took you fourteen years to get over the shock.

Follow this link XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 section for advice on the rear wheel bearings.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others provide relevant information.

Welcome to this friendly and helpful forum. I'm sure you'll find the answers you need here.
We old timers have got the kids well outnumbered -but then, I'm sure you'll agree, they don't make 'em like us anymore. Bit like Jags - too many electronic bits on the young ones.

Many thanks for the advice, it's great getting lots of replies when you post a technical question, but much better when they're relevant!

Hi Steve,

True, the electronics do make it a spot more difficult to get your hands dirty and be successful! I remeber the ECU failing on my V12 though..

I must admit I do enjoy tinkering with the old American Pick-up I bought, thoroughly back to basics, it even has a carb!
