New member - X300 XJR in Germany
Hi guys,
I bought a 1997 XJR the first week that I moved here to Germany last November.
I've been a car enthusiast as long as I remember, but mostly centered on performance Mercedes-models. I lived in China for the last 6 years before moving here, and the X300s and X308s really came into my mind when I spotted an X308 Daimler Super V8 in my neighborhood.
Jaguars were not sold officially in mainland China up until the mid 2000s, so this example is ridiculously rare, and after I started chatting with my neighbor regarding his trials and tribulations keeping that beauty on the roads in Beijing, I knew that I needed to have either an X308 or X300 XJR in my life!
Anyways, I now have a X300 XJR with about 130k km on the clock thatIm slowly trying to restore to usable condition. I gave the car to an oldtimer workshop to remove all traces of rust (both sills and floor had quite a lot of rust) and rebuild the chain tensioner + renew all the silicone/ rubber hoses. What I am working on myself now is cleaning up the interior (I bought a rare NOS wood/ leather wheel with the "dark wood" finish to match the other veneers in the car), doing a throttle body-clean (half-way through) and replacing the O2 sensors (pretty much complete) as well as some other rolling-restoration jobs.
The paint will need some work too, as the car was sitting outside under a tree the past 5 years (!!!) but Im hoping to firstly get it mechanically in top-shape for the summer.
