My name is Erik, and i live in Bergen, Norway. In the summer of 2018 I purchased a 1998 X308 XJR With 111 000 km on the clock (approx. 69 400 miles) from a trustworthy source. Still, the car being about 20 years old I quickly realised the need for a good information source on maintenance, facts, problemsolving and upgrades. I was very happy indeed when I found the Jaguar Forums! I am constantly impressed by the level of detailed knowledge and the genuine helpfulness the members of this forum displays - it's really fantastic! I have read this forum for hours and hours, both out of general interest in the cars and in order to solve specific issues, and felt it was about time to join in.
The X308 is the first Jaguar I own, having been smitten by them during a stay as an exchange student in England in 2010. The car is mostly stock and in quite good condition. The modifications over stock is a pulley set (I believe it to be from Mina Gallery), an attempt at a cold air intake, something at the rear end of the exhaust, a very small spoiler (is it called a "lip"?) on the bootlid, and some extra grille mesh in the lower grille opening in the front. It is said to develop around 410-420 hp, but I don't have any dyno verification. To my taste it is quite brisk, but lacks something in the low to low midrange. At full blast it is just that - a blast!

My initial question would be: What is the factory name of the metallic black paint for the X308 XJR?
I think 'lip' is the most accurate word to use. 'Spoiler' suggests a raised wing rather than a discreet moulding. As for the colour, it is probably Anthracite but check the three letter paint code on door pillar label. Anthracite is PED.
