Default New old jag owner

Hello everyone,
First jag in a long line of cars! I just picked up a 2003 xjr in BRG with tan interior on a set of comets...drool. The car needs some help to reach its former glory, so that is my goal. Have had a couple xjs's and xj6's in the family over the years, but the first of my own...oh how you miss that Jaguar smell! In any case just wanted to say hello, and apologize for any ridiculous questions that I may ask in the forums, as I said, many cars, first jag...i expect surprises!

Hope everyone got the most out of their weekend!

Welcome to the forum jag2daygone2morrow,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

2003 was a model change year for the XJ8. Follow this link XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 forum if you have the earlier steel bodied model or this one https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...j6-xj8-xjr-28/ to the X350 forum if you have the later aluminium bodied design.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Thanks everyone!
I will definitely get my vehicle details added to my profile, plus a couple pics after a good washing. It is a x308 steel body, I'm sure the x350 is a great car, but wanted one with the classic lines, and riding 2" of the pavement feel. It only has 74k, but I have a feeling those were WELL driven miles, so I will be in preventative mode for a while before I get to see what it can do. At this point it has a low riding rear end and most likely a few bushings and shocks needed for replacement. It's a bit loud and rough on slow moving choppy pavement. Thanks to these forums I had an idea of what i was in for from the start!

My last X308 was a 2001MY and a good car. By the end of the production run in 2003, Jaguar had got the early faults resolved and made it a great car.

As long as it has been regularly serviced, I wouldn't worry about 74k miles. The front suspension bushes are a regular wear item and could be the cause of the rough ride.
