Default New to the world of Jaguar

Hello
I'm Ian from Grimsby, UK. I've joined to get some advice for a chum who has a 97 XK8 coupe. I have a spare door to take to him, as a surprise, and wondered if it is possible to wind the window down mechanically, in order to take up less space and protect the glass. I'm sure I'll be back for further help in due course.
Meanwhile, I'll have a look around. Quality site so far. Thanks in advance
Ian

Welcome to the forums Ian,

There is no mechanical option for "emergency" window winding as found on some other marques but you could certainly disconnect the mechanism to lower the glass. This would require removal of the door card but it's not a major job. Members with this model will be able to help.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. Hello, Ian,
In your place I would seriously consider connecting a battery to the door and run the window down electrically.
I've done that a time or two, but not on a Jaguar door.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
