New X-type 2.5 V6 owner
Helo there,
'hope you're doing well in these unusual times.
I'm a new owner of an 2003 2.5 auto X-type that I bought as a for fun second car. Also I always wanted for once to own a Jag and a V6 that sounded good.
I always was a fan of the '90s - '00s XJ and dreamed a while to own one but never really proceed because the tax in my country for a 3 liter is 500Eur/year or 1300eur/year for a 3.2 and goes up to 2000 euro/year for a 5 liter.
Anyway for an engine up to 2.6 liter the tax is about 180 eur/year and luckily for me, the car I bought is tax free for me. The only cost would be the insurance but only to run it.
I paid ~600 euro for the car that has even an LPG fitted to it wich is a big plus.
Interior condition is very good with clean light yellow color, heated leather seats, working sunroof etc.
Mechanically is in very bad condition with the right front shaft and the propshaft in need to be replaced and on top of all almost no compression on cilynder 1. That was expected because the car ran on 5 cilinders since I first seen it.
Aestheticaly is also in bad condition but nothing that can't be fixed.
Now I'm evaluating what would cost me to fix the engine. From my investigations the source of the compression loss seems to be both intake and exhaust valves on cyl 1. So the cilynder head must come out. I'll post in the appropiate forum section more details.
So far I'm happy with my new project.

Welcome to the forums Iulian,
Good to have you with us in these very strange times.
Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x-type-x400-14/ to the X-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. The mention of Euro tells me you are somewhere in the EU and your IP Address reveals it is Romania. You can also use the Europe Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/europe-42/ to find other members in your region.
Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
Enjoy the forums.
Graham

Thanks for the welcome.
Congrats for the work on this huge forum that's a briliant knowledge base for cars built tens of years ago.
I've already browsed a lot of interesting threads and had some intro intro X-Type workshop manual and some docs software.
I posted here because this seems to be "a MUST"

I've updated my signature with my car and other helpful details.

Thanks again for welcoming.
I have one question about the rules of the forum.
I tried posting a new thread in the X400 subforum but it seems that my post is waiting to be moderated.
How much it usually takes for a post to be moderated and eventually accepted?
Thanks
