Default New x308 XJ8 Owner

Hey there, I'm from Rhode Island (USA) and I just purchased a base XJ8 from a former Jag mechanic.

It's on amazing condition, may post pictures later, and has exactly 100k miles.

I'm not unfamiliar with older cars, my pride and joy is an amazing condition 1992 Cadillac DeVille. Also a great car for comfort and cruising.

A good friend of mine has a 96 DeVille in a very high-end restoration shop right now getting new paint and a new vinyl top and I think he said something about the bumper trim was going be rechromed too. I didn't think it looked like it even needed new paint, its been to the local car shows many times and won trophies, but he said beside stone chips and door dings, one fender had a scratch and he didn't want to risk not having a perfect match so just repaint the whole thing. I expect its probably costing him somewhere around $30K. He and his wife both love big sedans and have a collection of 20 to 30, I lost count, mostly 60s vintage. But that DeVille is his wife's favorite, her daily driver for nearly two decades. I suspect he was spending so much money at this shop that he figured he better do one for his wife too. But that's pretty dedicated to spend that kind of coin on a 30 year old Cadillac that'll probably be worth half that when its done. I'm glad there's at least a few crazy people out there like you preserving the big sedans. Welcome aboard. Sounds like the Jaguar is in good hands.
