Newbie
Just purchased a 2003 XJ8 with 49,200 miles on it. My wife's dream car. I perform most of the maintenance on my other vehicles, and I restore early Mustangs, but know nothing about Jags. So I look forward to everyone's help taking care of my wife's new (to her) dream car. Thanks in advance for everyone's help.

I'm not convinced you're entirely sold on your wife's dream.
2003 was a model change year from the steel bodied X308 to the aluminium bodied X350. Just to keep everyone on their toes, Jaguar badged both as XJ8. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also use the US Midwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-midwest-39/ to find other members in your region.

49,000 miles is just now well broken in and loosened up for a modern engine. Your wife should be able to get another 150K out of it easily.
