I'll need some clarification before pointing you to the correct Model forum. The 2 door XJS was manufactured from 1975 to 1996 and didn't have a 4.2 engine from the factory although some have had replacements fitted. The four door XJR with either 4.0 or 4.2 engine ran from 1997 to 2003. Which do you have?
