Old Newby needs advice
Howdy folks, happy to find this site. I am the proud owner of a 1989 XJS V12 coupe hope to get to drive her soon. Been working on her since bringing her home. Enjoying the adventure. I am befuddled about re-installing the seat rail bolts...how does one hold the square nuts in the floor so they do not drop out of reach of the bolt threads?? I am kinda old school cause I am old, so forgive me for the mistakes I am sure to make on the computer machine, THANKS
Hello,
You'll enjoy our XJS section. Those guys know Everything about these cars, including probably, how to get your seats bolted back on. Someone will be along soon to direct you there.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome.
I agree, that is one of the better ideas Jaguar had at the time.
I use a STRONG magnet on a stick, and with steady hands (ha) and carefull placement it works.
I have thought of JB Welding them in place next time the seat is out, but 16 years later, still using the magnet.

Thanks Grant, I must be smarter than I think as I have been using magnets, long needle nose pliers, etc. So far, I choose not to resort to JB weld, as I want the nut to float. Me and my best friend Percy (perseverance) will be back on the job later today.
