one of the most beautifully designed XKR
Hello everyone, im not much good on computers let alone forums! I work in the Middle-east run around in the old 1993 Merc 500 SEL and used to run the '78 Pontiac Trans-am.
I love V8s an d was looking around for the Merc 560 SEC or Rover P5B coupe. After lots of studying these cars and others I kept coming back to the early post nickersil/steel chain tentioner XKR's and the best, in my opinion, design of the '100's.
I took delivery this very morning of my first XKR 100 driven all the way from Alan Tully motors overnight by a nice chap named Michael.
Drove all around Inverness just loving it but now it has an amber engine shaped light come up!
If theres is any suggestion as to what it might be or resetting it would be very appreciated. Also own X5 4.6si 2003 and Lexus Soarer V8.
Good thing my wife likes them all but i'll have to get rid of the X5 as the tax is crippling!

Welcome to the forum clivegerrard,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
That will be your CEL (Check Engine Light) a.k.a. MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light). You will need a code reader to find what is triggering it.
Follow this link XK8 / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link UK & Eire - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.

Many things can trigger the CEL. Without a code reader, it's guesswork.
If there's nowhere local can read the 'P' (powertrain) codes for you then a cheap basic code reader or Torque Pro for Android will suffice.
Post the question about CEL in XK8/XKR tech forum and you'll get plenty of advice.
