Possible DIY?
Good morning everyone, I recently purchased myself a British racing green 95 XJ 12 with 69k miles and frankly am blown away by the car, how well it’s been kept, and the lack of mileage for a 95 in 2019. I recently however have run into my first “issue” which is the ABS light(and subsequently the trac fail light) intermittently coming on only after a few miles of driving. My guess is a wheel sensor is bad but short of actually replacing the sensors are there any past problems here I should know about? Or perhaps any DIY fixes that may spare the replacement costs if it isn’t necessary?
Having already posted it I realize I should have pointed out that this is my first jaguar and I am brand new to the forums, sorry for the seemingly out of place post as this probably should’ve been in another category and I can’t figure out how to delete it to repost lol
Hello,
Congratulations on your First Jaguar! It sounds like an especially Awesome car!
Someone will be along shortly to direct you to the correct section where you can find help for that ABS light.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

A common fault is the solder joints in the ABS control module become weak. There are outfits out there who repair ABS modules.
Sometimes simply unplugging the connector and re-seating it will make the warning light go away for a few days or even a few months. Luck of the draw. The process of unplugging and re-seating seems to jiggle things the right way to restore proper connections on the circuit board inside the module.
The wheel speed sensors sometimes fail. Or, as often as not, they are simply gunked-up and need a bit of cleaning
The "X305" section is correct for your car. Or, really, "X300" would be fine as well....for non-engine-related matters
Cheers

Welcome to the forum Providence719,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I can see you have already found your way to the X305 forum with another question so there's no need for a link to it from me. For almost everything other than powertrain questions, the X300 forum is likely to be the best place for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Northeast Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-northeast-35/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.

Welcome to the Jag Forums, Providence 719. You are brave for making your first Jaguar a V12 model! You are now a member of an exclusive club. But no worries, the X305 XJ12 isn't too hard to live with. It is fortunate that you found a low mileage and well cared-for car, and that past care will go a long ways towards making it a joy for you to own.
Obviously a brave young man, as shown by your career choice! Thank you for what you do.
