Default retrricted performance light

Hi may i first introduce myself,
my name is stephen garrett. I am currently experiencing a problem with check engine light which stays on. And a retricted performance performance light that stays on for about a minute or so. My fault code reader reads both banks running lean. I have had the manifold, fuel fillter, and air blead hoses /air fillter replaced. Someone has also mentioned changinng lambda sensors ? . Could anyone advise me of the location of said sensors ? and any other ideas would be gratefully recived.

with thanks

stephen

Hi Stephen,

You'll probably get some good help here, but you'll first have to post your vehicle model and year, and engine type. It would also be an asset to provide the Diagnotic Trouble Codes you retrieved.

The lack of imformation I have supplied just proves my frustration. MY car is a xk8 4.00 L 2000 model. THe fault coders are p0171 bank 1 generic system to lean. p0174 bank 2 generic system to lean. thjanks for your quick responce.

Air intake duct to throttle body split at bellows, broken full load breather pipe to A bank cam cover, loose clamp at MAFS connection to duct hose, broken part load breather pipe, remove and clean Mass Air Flow Sensor with CRC MAFS cleaner. That's where to start.

And do not do anything with the O2 sensors. Those codes are not llikely to be cause by those.
Check all of the things Ohio mentioned.

Hi friends,
A note of premeture thanks. Recived throtle body duct and changed with no results. Checked clamps and connections with no change. Decideded to take full bellows apart. Cleaned the lot with carb cleaner. redone connections and scrubed throtle body with carb cleaner and bingo ( i think). not counting chicken s yet but have been well fed off there eggs.
Thanks again will be glued to these pages.

P .S. forgot to mention. Cleared fault codes, and recived a alien one. P111 jaguar system pass. Whilst i expect a bit of turmoil with a jag. I hope this is a end to this problem.
Thanks again
Steve
