Smile S Type 2.7 d

Hi. I have just bought 2007 S type 2.7 d. I live in France and although there are a few jaguar dealers around, I have not tried them yet. For a normal service is this a Ford engine or Jaguar engine? Does it have a timing belt or chain. If a belt when should it be changed? The service manual doe not have much indication of what is to be done at what service. I think I must be missing a document.

So far a great car, having driven a Kia Sportage for 3 years!

Like you I own a 2005 2.7D. Because this engine has belts instead of chains they need to be replaced every 10 years or 150000kms if you do a fair amount of driving. I am going to try JFC Duffort in Tours but they have quoted 3500 euros for a full service. Thats labour with parts, inc water pump, fuel filter etc. I'll let you know outcome in a month or two. All other services can be done in a Peugeot or Ford garage.(or even at home)

Default Using Jaguar Dealer JFC Duffort

I thought like you to try a Jaguar dealer for a major service. Putting in the car for the 10 year service I expected the timing belt plus ancillaries to be changed. When I collected the car they had done just a normal service for 140000 kms. The workshop manager stated that they would need 2 days for a major service and I had to hire a car from them. The cost for this service (dont forget they had just done a filter ,oil change etc) would be in the region of 6500 euros ! Needless to say I have found a very good garage in Mirebeau with a mechanic who knows the X Type and the S Type diesels but alas cannot do repairs that involve resetting the on board computer.
