XJS Fuel Injector Insertion tool
Hi there, I am trying to get a 1989 XJS V12 low mileage car back on the road after not being driven for nearly 15 years. I am doing this as a favor and I may consider buying this car at some point in the near future as the history is known from purchase and has been garaged all of its life. I used to own a 1986 XJS and put 250K miles on it before I sold it. I have replaced the plugs, repaired the fuel injector harness and refitted the air rail and the inlet manifolds. Now I am trying to repair the injectors and as they are beginning to crack and the rubber is as hard as a rock, I am advised to replace the rubber due to the fire danger and then refit to the fuel rail. I have the washers top and bottom and the correct hose. Now I am told I require an insertion tool to make a good job of this. Can somebody advise the best tool to get which does not cost an arm and a leg? Thank you in advance for any help. David Stephen
Never heard of such a tool nor needed one.
Carefully cut away the old hose to remove it from the injector and the injector rail. The new hose is then simply pushed onto the barbed nipples. A bit of [favorite aerosol lubricant] is useful here to reduce the the effort required.
