Build something yourself with Magnaflow cats, X-pipe and Mufflers. You could always just do mufflers now then x-pipe later then cats so its easier on the wallet. But getting the components seperate then having them installed will be cheaper then buying a complete system as in a blueflame or a mina which is only the mufflers.

I would remove the center muffler/resonator and make it a straight pipe. This will give it a deeper roar we on the throttle. It will sound like a mercedes amg v8. I did this to my 99 xjr

carloner, Vance is right on. You can even keep the stock mufflers as they are pretty free flowing out of the box and sound good too when coupled with Magnaflow's hi-flow cats ($85/each) as well as their x-pipe ($80). You'll find the combo of hi-flo cats and x-pipe as the big power broker of the mods. Order Mafioso's modded air intake elbow and drop in a K&N a/f while your at it.

Agree with Vance and BFS....
do the upgrade in step.....i also did my muffler to a set of magnaflows 14x(3inch pipes) cost around $400 to installed
sound better that it use to be.. (previous owner removed the muffler, resonator so pretty much just cats and straight pipes) really annoyingly loud...

this is the link to what it use to sound like (loud and deep )

and now i m civilized.

take care

I wouldn't use the stock mufflers tho like
Bfsgross mentioned b/c they are restrictive if comparing to magnaflow mufflers. Go with hi flow cats, x pipe, minus the resonators. Make it a nice str8 piPe like everyone has mentioned.

Good luck!

I personally just did the magnaflow Hi Flo cats for the performance and a slight exhaust note change, I did not want the deep V8 mustang sound. It' a Jaguar S type R.
But it's all down to what you are looking for?

So that clip is the before audio which was too loud?

BTW, which piece of exhaust produces the dog bark. That's pretty nifty ...

X2 uropnm6. My 03 STR originally recieved Magnaflow's hi-flow cats and xpipe, 2 1/2" pipe leading to a pair of Walker glass packed tube mufflers (resonators) then to a pair of Magnaflow mufflers. Admittedly the rap on acceleration was intoxicating and she was surprisingly quiet during light cruise. If ya dipped into the throttle further she rapped again and this is where I had a problem. Interior noise was a bit too much. At 65+ mph conversation between me and passengers or listening to the stereo was drowned by the rap and moan. So I made a change to Walker Dynomax Super Turbo's (two glass packed chambers with an open throttle bypass flap). I tried the Turbo's without the resonators but she was way too loud inside and out. Coupled with the 12" Walker glass packed tube resonators, the Super Turbo's emit an attenuated yet authoritive bark which has a hint of "raspy" in it...IMO, just right for those who require something in the middle. My "***-Dyno" also feels the recovery of low-end torque lost by the Magnaflow mufflers. Hope this helps those on the fence and hope to pop on a YouTube vid to demonstrate.

Hey looking forward to that video so I can get a good idea of what the sound is like? Can you do some driving at 60+ with a couple acceleration runs.

Can't wait for a demo of that ***-Dyno too! No, not really ...

hahahaah yup.. that was loud...
I lived in a cul-de-sac area... and they all can hear the loud noise every time i turned on the ignition... i was loud..
but i do think it drive more powerful with the straight pipes compared to the magnaflows...(but i could be wrong)

Ps: there was a Harley that caused the my dog to bark...

i will post a new Movie clip with the new magnaflow.... after i installed new set of tires on the Barcelona's wheel....

You guys not referring me to be a Filipinos right.. (i m not.. hehehe)

LOLzz..I guess Enthusiast doesn't know his accents after all

Yo Bfs I too am looking forward for that youtube video of your exhaust sound. Without the resonators its not that bad as you were saying at 65mph plus,hmmm...all I did was change to the Hi flow cats, x-pipe and Magnaflow mufflers and 4" tips.

Does anyone have any actual dyno results using Magnaflow muffs and high flow converters?

I am ready to try the dynomax vt mufflers to eliminate the drone. I am going to leave it at 2.25" to help with back pressure. I am trying to decide if I want to just do the mufflers, or a whole exhaust. What is everyones opinion on the stock resonators? Are they very restrictive? What is the biggest advantage of the X pipe?

Also on the dynomax vt it only comes in offset inlet with center exhaust in the 2.25, think they will work?

Damnit! That is what I was looking to go after also. I don't think anyone has them installed yet, but I was planning to in the next month or so.
