About 2 weeks ago, my 2000 S-Type 3.0 starting having some issues starting. When I insert the key, it starts to beep. I turn the key, the seat moves to the memorized position. Then when I turn the key further to start, about 3 out of 4 times, nothing happens. On the 4th time, it starts up just fine. Any clue on what is happening and how to fix it?

 

How many kilometres/miles are on the vehicle? Are there any DTCs stored in the system?

It could be a relay, the ignition switch or a wiring loom issue.

 

The next time it won't start just turn the key to ON and watch the PATS light to see if it will blink a 'CODE'.

When I turned turned the key and it wouldn't, the PATS light would flash continuously. So I was wondering if it's a PATS issue based on the previous post.

I then swapped the key (I have two keys), and I have NOT had an starting issue with the 2nd key.

So I do resolve the starting issue with the 1st key?

 

The PATS light will flash continuously for 60 seconds and THEN flash a 2 digit code.

If its not those... I've seen plugged fuel filters give similar symptoms. (multiple times and on different makes of cars)
