New to this forum. Bought a 2001 Jaguar Stype 4.0 with 109,000 miles 6 months ago in great condition. Recently I went in to get shock service with low fuel and very low oil. After they were done with car I went to drive it off and car shuttered and wouldn’t move. Car stayed running but won’t accelerate past 6 feet. Very weird. Thought it could be bad gas or water in tank, but no. Mechanics looked at it and couldn’t figure out what’s going on. Sent to another shop which will look at it in 2 days. Any ideas please let me know. Could be something simple I hope that maybe was disconnected by mistake. Any ideas?
Consider this scenario: After a mechanic finished the suspension work, the test drive was assigned to a 16 year old flunkie. Your car may have been driven with a bit more "spirit" than you normally might use. If so, and with a nearly empty tank, some crud (that normally just sat in the bottom of the tank) may have been stirred up, and drawn into the pump and filter.
As NBCat has suggested, check the fuel pressure and go from there.
Well car is being fixed now. Come to find out when suspension work was done a technician broke the wheel speed sensor. Mechanic sent pics of the damage and they will be paying me to fix it. Total cost $950 for cable and reprogramming. Thanks for the input

First things first: Posting an update is a SERIOUS breech of forum etiquette for a new member. The typical M.O. is to burst in with a problem and then never follow up, leaving us all hanging and wondering why we even try to help. For this grievous action on your part, we may have no recourse but to promote you to moderator.
All seriousness aside, back to the car. Glad to hear the problem was found. But I could have sworn a wheel speed sensor was plug and play, no programming required. I think this was covered in a recent thread, but of course I can’t find it.
