Egr valve replacement STypeR
I’m getting CEL for lean fuel mixture after repairing leaky fuel rails ( supercharger removed etc)
smoke test for vacuum leaks shows leak around coil casing (?) on EGR valve. Not sure if this a real issue or would it leak in ignition off mode?
I found one available on partsgeek but replacing it is a bitch. Can it be done without removing supercharger and throttle body elbow (groan). ??
thanks for any advice!

If I am reading you right. Would it not be vacuum line seal to the Brake servo which sits on the EGR which is leaking, rather?

Thank you. I was able to replace that bushing and it seems to hold pressure ok.
the current leak is in the egr valve assembly or the gasket where it attaches to throttle body elbow. All very tough to get to.

Maybe I’m doing it wrong but I previously removed supercharger and leaky fuel rails WITHOUT removing the EGR valve assembly
even with S/c removed it was not obvious how to remove EGR valve on back left of engine bay.
I do not wznt to remove S/c if at all possible.
thanks.

the other way of just bending the tb elbow out of the way to get to the bottom bolt is better

I went a step further and removed the entire cabin air filter encasement. Tons of room and very little chance of rounding a nut or bolt

I have already removed under hood brace and cabin air filter trappings. Looking at removing heater hoses as suggested
any intel on why 4 hoses going through firewall?
thanks again

datc works by impeding flow to the heater via valve it doesn’t have a real blend door
On closer inspection I see there are only 3 hoses going through firewall. Makes more sense.
1 supply and a return for each half of the heater core.
again thanks for advice.

for dual climate control temp settings coming off dccv when seperate pass and driver temps are used. When you disconnect the hoses remove the bracket bolts for the two brackets holding the hoses and fold them towards the front and secure with bungee cord or similar
Go to this thread and look at post 163.
S-type supercharger removal (with pics)
just search the title in the search bar. It pops up about fourth one down. I was removing the whole charger so you probably do not have to remove the big intake pipe or throttle body. All the egr access is from the space created on the pass sideLast edited by scottjh9; Mar 26, 2024 at 02:06 PM.
