I have an 02 S Type 3.0 and I got this engine code today Code 403 EGR Flow Circut Malfunction. Cars seems to run ok. Any ideas what part would be malfunctioning?? Thanks

 

Um, the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve would be malfunctioning... check the electrical connector or the EGR for blockage/soot... if you don't have JTIS - it's a good time to download off the forum - the info contained is very beneficial.

My 02 S Type 3.0 doesn't have a EGR Valve on it, it's blocked off from the factory. So now what would set the engine light on with the code P0403 if there is no EGR Valve ???

 

There could be blocked off passages in the EGR tubes or excessive carbon buildup.

 

I've since checked and I don't have a EGR Valve on my engine, So what would set that code off ???????

 

Why no EGR? Jag tech doc show you have one.

There's a block off plate that is from the factory. I've read somewhere else that somebody had a 2002 S type with the 3.0 that didn't have a EGR Valve too!!! I've cleared the code and it hasn't come back on in 50 miles of driving so far.

 

Sounds like a non-CA, possibly non-USA, car.

 

How can you tell if it's a non-US car. I bought it about a year ago and just assumed it has always been in California.
