Feel for ya - its probably one of the worst car related feelings you can have, other than failing your driving test or wrecking it.

I just MOT'd my 07 plate Audi A6 with 90k miles on her.....she's very well looked after but I was very nervous.....luckily enough she sailed through.

Hoping you get it sorted real quick for the free re test

OK so far i have replaced the 2 brake pipes. and today i replaced the shock bush!! what a job. Getting the shocker off is easy. getting the old bush out is a pita! and then pressing the new one in is also a pita but it can be done. i read in another thread saying you would have to take to a garage to do it. It can be done at home with a little effort. Only the ball joint to go. thats for tomorrow and retest on Sat.. hopfully she will be back on the road for next week/

Best of luck 'Boy' bummer that it failed.

Just be thankful that it is not an old series LandRover, to get the bolts out of the springs before changing the bushes half the time you have to set the thing on fire!

And hope.

MOT's are like waiting for exam results. I hate them!!

Well done with the shock absorber bush. They are a pain to get out and get back in. I have used the old sockets and long bolt trick in the past.

Certainly don't need to get a garage to do it.

That lower ball joint could well be a pain. I had to strip the front arm completely down and get a local engineering firm to remove/replace.

Jaguar claim you can't replace the ball joint and suggest you buy the complete arm!!

I'm lucky enough to have a friend who runs a local Porsche specialist, called the Porscheshop. if i get stuck i can nip down there and use their workshop.. thats as long as they have a spare ramp. :-)

Bottom ball joint is a pig. You have to remove all the abs and the bearings. then its still a pain to get into the press due to the shape of the leg. Anyway all done and been for the retest. She now as a brand new 12 months MOT.
