GPS problem
So I got the message "The disc installed is not a map dvd" on my touch screen on my 2005 STR. Do I take the disc out and put back in or is there something else involved? The system has worked fine up till now. Would disconnecting the battery possibly reset it?
Well that was a quick fix, I pushed the button on the front of the nav. dvd unit and surprisingly it did not eject but I could hear it spinning and now it is working again. Hopefully that takes care of that. I do have to do something similar on the cars cd player, I have to eject the cartridge in the trunk and put it back in again when I get a message on the screen about not being able to play a disc. So far that has worked every time.
Unfortunatly over time the laser heads in the DVD and CD players become less effective.
This can result in issues with reading the disks.
Quite often the easiest repair is to replace the complete unit with a known good one.
One other word of warning, try not to use the random multi disk function when using the CD changer as if the disks are changing when the car goes over a bump it can jam the individual cards in the cassette. It is not the end of the world as the usual fix is to gently push the card further into the drive from the cassette. (Not trying to push it back into the cassette.)
