Question Help please2000 jag s-type

I was driving my 2000 jag s-type previously when all the sudden it died; my power steering stopped working and it will not start again... All accessories are fine, and when I turn the key I hear only a click that I found was coming from the starter motor relay... Also the red anti theft light on dash is going crazy

+1 dead battery get it checked preferably conductance test!!

If you have a voltmeter give it a quick test looking for 12.5 upwards

Below 12 its gone to battery heaven!!

Welcome to the forum Charles,

I'd moved your identical question from General Tech Help to S-Type forum. As you have now re-posted here, I've deleted the first thread!

Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

+2 on the battery. Betcha it's only 10.8 volts, indicating a dead cell in that battery. Mine would click and sound the horn/alarm..no weak start like my truck (like all or nothing). When these start to fail, many systems go with it.

As in other vehicles, when they say 24 month battery, they mean it.

Check that first before chasing other areas.

Ended up being my anti theft module, all I have is the vallet key so I had to leave a window cracked enough for me to be able to reach in and start the car before the alarm starts going off like crazy so that messed up the anti theft module resulting in engine immobilization,, now I have to go and get a key fob and have it programmed and that should do the trick hopefully

I don't think so. If starter relay clicks, starter should work. I need to see electrical diagram. I am pretty sure, there is nothing between starter relay and starter, which can prevent starter from turning engine.

Hello and welcome to justanswer.com

If the theft warning led is flashing rapidly when you turn on the ignition then the anti theft system is preventing the vehicle from starting. First disconnect the negative battery terminal cable for 10 minutes. Reconnect it then lock the vehicle with the key in the driver door. Then un lock it and the alarm should be disarmed. You should then make sure the inertia switch did not trip which is located behind the driver front kick panel. If the vehicle still will not start then the security system will need to be reset and the keys re programmed with the Jag factory tool.

Keep watching PATS and count flashes, just as the download info says. Then look up (or post) the flash counts.

Doing the unplug the negative cable andlock then unlock didn't work it keeps flashing repeatedly might only be able to have to get key fob then programmed by whoever...
