Default interior switch lights S-Type 2003

Hello Guys,

Maybe someone knows the solution to my tiny little problem. The switch bulbs inside the window switches RH front, RH rear, LH rear aren’t working.

I check the primary fuse bow Fuse 6, but that one is not blown.

Do these bulbs fail sometimes and are they replaceable? I didn’t check the voltage on the switch jet, I believe the wire colour must be black (mass) an blue/yellow (dimmed voltage)

Looking at the wiring diagram, all three not working does not make sense if it is caused by a fuse or power distribution problem.

But anyway, maybe someone here with more experience can guide me to the solution.

Best Regards

Ciao William

Hello Guys,

Nobody has an idea!?

There is a voltage on the wires, so the little bulb inside the switch must be broken.

Maybe these bulbs can be welded in:

it should work fine, if your using led's make sure you get the polairty right.

Let me know how you get on as my passanger door window button has stopped lighting up.

How easy are the switch panels to get out ?

The reason i have not done anything about mine is i'm ham fisted and am worried about snapping bits off.

I'm sure someone's posted about this and it's awkward plus I think the bulbs are soldered in - might have been on the UK forum.

I will not using led’s for the switches and I am aware of the polarity as these are diode’s. The mini bulbs are original. Please be patient I will first purchase a couple of bulbs and then start with one of the back doors.

Promise to post some pictures on how to do.

Need some pictures from the switch it self. As police666 mentioned also afraid to break something. Replacing the bulbs to not a standard job, for the workshop procedure I use JTIS.

Anyway I will post some pictures from the switch and how to weld the new bulbs in.

In my daily (the Caddy) the little micro bulbs are a known failure in the steering wheel radio control buttons. I had replaced the bulbs for .99 cents for 2, (2 bulbs required per switch), rather than spending $300.00 for 4 new switches.

The following is what I used and would use in Joyces Jag if required.

Disreguard the ratchet and nut driver.

Here is on of the Caddies switches dismantled:

Thanks Rick, I repaired radio fronts a view times with these bulbs. But also noticed sometimes the presence of micro led welded on. These Micro led are hard to replace the welding is so very small.

I will make some pics of the S-Type Switch inclusive the result.

William that is why I use my "cold heat" soldering gun rather than my conventional plug in guns.

The "spot solder" on these are so tiny, a very quick touch and the bulb just pops out with the dab of solder along with it.
