Must be missing.
There is a black polystyrene foam tub that sits in the spare wheel cavity (within the spare wheel) that houses the jack, wheel chocks, wheel nut wrench etc.

yes i have that except for the jack, not that the wheel spanner is much good as its a very poor fit
i didnt think the jack would fit there as it looks to small for the jack, not that i have one to try
thanks

Yes. eBay is your friend for good pictures, even if you purchase a jack elsewhere. Here's one example, many more with a quick search:

I have a full-size wheel and tire. A scissor jack and a small black foam triangle that holds the tow eye, I don't have that large poly cover. Good luck finding what you need.

You may have the earlier rectangular type polystyrene tub rather than the later round type shown above by kr98664.
The earlier type requires that the jack be wound down to fit in the cavity. I had to change jacks as the original had started to double thread would you believe; easily kill you..
Went to the (now unfortunately closed local wrecker) and bought another genuine Jaguar S Type jack. Came from an X204 V6 and I noticed it had a sticker on the jack with the words "S Type'.
Not that easy with fleabay in this country; see if you can buy a genuine one from one of the local wreckers. Probably the same as the XJ and X Type; others will confirm.

Yes, we all know the wheel spanner is a joke. Good as useless and guaranteed to ruin the rims and nuts. Do not use. Buy an extendable socket type and only use a 19mm socket. Socket as narrow as possible and wrap some good tape around the socket end to avoid chipping the paint finish on the wheels.

Just in case anyone doesn't know - never get under a car supported only by a scissor jack.

Those things are just about adequate for things where you're in dire need and don't need to get under the car - mainly that is changing a flat.

Yep.
Many moons ago I decided to paint the rear brake calipers on my car (not a Jag).
I pulled out the car's scissor jack and an old spare one I had laying around and shoved one under each rear jacking point, so the whole rear end of the car was up in the air.
Took the rear wheels off and just as I was about start spraying the paint on a calliper the car started to sag and lean alarmingly and I had to move quick smart to avoid being squashed against the carport wall (quite narrow carport).
The jack on that side had broken and collapsed, albeit in slow motion.
I scarpered but I could not prevent the car from bumping and scraping into the carport wall (bare brick).
Nasty dent and paint scrape in the rear fender which cost a pretty penny to get repaired.
But the most annoying thing was the car was jammed up against the wall and it took about a 100 point turn to get it out of the carport!
I could not move the car without first of all lowering and removing the jack on the other side, and that simply served to jam the car up against the wall even tighter.
And then I had to remove the mangled remains of the broken jack which was not much fun seeing as there was zero space, I now remember that I had to use the "good" jack next to the busted jack to get the busted jack out of there.
The whole sorry episode took some three hours before I finally had the car clear of the carport, and I was very lucky to tell the tale.
I have never used a scissor jack again except in a roadside emergency and I never will.

[QUOTE=OzXFR;2718342]Yep.
"Many moons ago I decided ......"
Many moons ago we used those stick clicking jacks that fit on those old chrome bumpers. They had a little lever to go up or down. Yes, we got under a car with those jacks. Damn, we were dumb. If we were taking an engine out, we used 2 of those jacks.
