The JEPC lists the Interior Rear View Mirror as..
Interior Rear View Mirror
Electrochromatic - with compass display
To VIN (M45254)
rain sensing system
XR835925

It is sold as an assy.

You likely need to calibrate and configure the compass to your geographic location (Zone).

Sybesma's Electronics

Contact this company. You ship your mirror to them and they redo the glass for one low fee and send it back so you keep your original mirror but the glass is correct.

Easy folks to deal with. I got a used one from Canada because my glass was good but the inside didn't work. No calibration was needed. It was plug and play. I also have a spare because I bought two on the same day to be sure one of them worked.

The Compass probably needs to be calibrated. You can calibrate by driving in a CIRCLE. The compass will probably calibrate eventually on it's own, but you can 'speed-up' the process.

You also need to configure if you are not in the correct ZONE that the compass is set to. There are 15 ZONES for North America.

Did you read the TSB???

We had to do this calibration/configure for EVERY X200 during New Car PDI when I worked at the dealer.

If you choose the incorrect ZONE you will not have an accurate compass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

Thanks to all who replied, nice to know that I can find help out there!! I found Sybesma's site and they sent me a very detailed email with instructions. They also said that I could email them pictures of what I have.

The compass works and changes with each turn, the problem is that 3/4's of it is stuck in "night time or dim mode?? Since I'm new to owning a Jaguar, and this S-Type is from my family, I also inherited the laundry list of problems.

You are in ZONE 9 so just make sure you set the mirror to the same.
I uploaded HUNDREDS of TSBs and other documents to the large file area and there are 'stickies' in every subsection for most of the models from the 1980s to the 2000s.

Other people have uploaded TSBs and other documents so there are many forum members that contributed to the vast database of info in those large file areas. I often find some that I don't have and download them for my info.

I have sent MANY mirrors to SYBESMAS for repair. I have BOXES of damaged/leaking mirrors that I collected from working at the Jag dealer.
Sometimes I find the same mirror that a customer needs and send it for repair so that when it is returned I simply swap them out. That way they are not without a mirror until the repaired one is returned.

If you find a good one in a salvage yard, you can install it OR if it too is damaged, you can send it out for repair and swap when it is returned.

good luck

Hello motorcarman,

I emailed back and forth with SYBESMAS for more specific questions. I noticed that the previous owner must have started to dig into the mirror. The two round pieces on the bottom seemed loose. I started to try and make the housing closed tight and the damn thing split open. Since I must have a mirror to drive I taped it closed. seems obvious to me that I will need to unplug the two internal wires to send it out. Are those wires for the rain sensor?

I don't think you NEED an interior mirror to legally drive in Ohio.

I live in TEXAS and all that is required is a rear view mirror. It can be an exterior mirror.
Many vehicles, especially those towing trailers, can't use an interior mirror anyway so they are not required to have one.
If you have no rear windows,(armored car?) you don't need an interior mirror.

I would just send the mirror off for repair and learn to use the exterior until the repaired one is returned, but that is just me.
