Default Loose connector in S-Type Trunk ?

I was swapping out the battery on my 2005 S-Type 4.2l V8 yesterday and I noticed their was a loose connector hanging and have no idea what it's for. I took a few images to see if someone could tell me. I also took a peak inside the side cover right by the battery where the loose cable was coming from and noticed that their was a connector port that had nothing connected ?
Thanks

The white one is a transit plug I believe. It's hooked up to an external power source and used when the car is being transported or stored when brand new to stop the battery going flat.

+1 on transit plug. (You can tape it up and forget about it)

Don't let it short or get wet.
