It is getting time for me to do the brakes on my car, and while I still haven't figured out if im going to stick with factory pads/rotors or go aftermarket, I do know I want to replace the 10+ year old rubber brake lines, but I cant find any stainless lines for the 03-up normally aspirated. I have found sets for the 99-02 and all STRs. Does anyone know where to find any, or if the ones for the other models work? If all else fails I will just get some stock ones from the dealer, but this is one of those "while im in there upgrades." Any info is greatly appreciated!

I know the STR has SS lines stock but I was not sure if the rest of the S Types did?
Some people mistake the factory ones on the STR because they don't look like the aftermarket SS ones and have a black plastic covering on them.

I would have to get my car up in the air again and check, but I'm pretty sure they are just standard rubber. I asked parts when I worked at the dealer and they couldn't tell me

1.I am sure my car has SS brake lines.
2.I cannot verify that they were installed at the Jaguar assembly plant(I was not present at the time).
I have owned the car for about 7 months, every part I have looked at on the car is Jaguar--even the battery is Jaguar(made by Varta in Germany).
It is possible that someone changed the brake lines/hoses.I have attached pics so you may judge for yourself.

I think you may be right. I put my car in the air today and looked at them again. They seem to be hard, but not like hard rubber, with a plastic shield over them. Only way to be for absolute sure is to dissect them off the car. I figured they were just rubber, my brakes are quite mushy and I know rubber lines will cause that issue. I may be looking and another problemOriginally Posted by Six Rotors

For what it's worth, I have an 06 4.2S NA with a late VIN number.
These and later models came with a Teves braking system; larger
disks, different calipers, pads, etc. They also came with stainless
steel flexible brake lines. I have no idea if you could retrofit these
lines to your earlier calipers; might be worth a try.

They're all Teves I think. I'm less than convinced about the disc size...
I did rear brakes on a 2000 the other day, and they are for sure standard rubber lines. And yesterday I took all the wheels off my car to flush the brake lines and I am confident they are stainless lines. They have a clear plastic shield over the top. They were just so dirty they looked black! I guess I should have looked before. But must be Jaguar started SS lines in 03 on the S-Type

Don't know when the stainless hoses became standard though.
320mm are smaller than some of the other S-Types (326mm, mine being 365mm).Originally Posted by Jagbuff_UK
