Default Looking good

It's now 2 weeks since the intercooler coolant pump from Eurotoys was fitted to my '05 STR. After 3 tanks of gas, everything looks good, no more "Restricted Performance" messages, car is going really well.

So, to sum up this thread:

"Restricted Performance" message + error code P2601 indicated supercharger overheating due to a problem with the intercooler coolant pump, not the auxiliary coolant pump. Car still driveable, but supercharger no longer available. First thing to do is check the 15-amp fuse F36 in the engine compartment, adjacent to the w/washer fill-up.

Pump price: From Jaguar, around $600. From Eurotoys, $309 less whatever discount you can negotiate (I got 20%).

The Eurotoys pump is physically larger than the OEM, and has a higher flow rate of around 5-6 gallons/minute. Seems to fit XKR's and XJR's without too much trouble, but a new mounting bracket had to be fabricated for installation on the STR. Total (indie) labour just over 2 hours.

Great site.
You are, we like new members to post an intro in the new members section.
This can also help bypass some of the new member restrictions and allow you to enjoy the site more fully.
Also this is the S Type section if you have questions on your XJR you should post in the model specific tech section. XJ ( X350 & X358 ) XJ6 / XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

Nice Car, got it as a coupe in the same color. Got the same Fault Code P2601 same conditions as note in your thread. How did you fix it?

Mendo XK - Not sure to whom you are asking the question. If it's me (probably not), see post #22 in this thread.

I have an 03 str with 135000km that is having issues somewhat similar to what I read here. Maybe someone can hopefully point me in the right direction. The car recently showed restricted performance and prior to this it was shifting rather hesitantly from 1st to 2nd I kept reading transmission related things but recently the dash lit up with the engine light and restricted performance, it drove without much power from the engine and i drove it back home and shut the car. When i started it 2 hours later the restricted performance went away and it seemed fine aside from the car shifting from 1st to 2nd with kind of a hiccup. any suggestion?

Probably a failing battery. Many many posts on here if you go reading.

Default aux pump new but still not working

That's the only time I got RP without generating any OBD codes. You should hear the whine of the I/C pump running when the ignition is on but the engine not running. My I/C pump was located in the right (passenger side) front area of the engine. Another indication that the I/C coolant pump isn't working is when the top of your intercoolers are hot as a match head.
I have the same issue as yourself it seems. Can you tell me what you found to be the problem. Was it the wiring by chance?
Replaced pump.Connectors all seem good.New fuse and relay. Fuse has dim light???? Any ideas.

Smile code P2601 IC auxilliary pump Jag STR

9 times out of 10 the hella pump is perfectly fine and there is no need for a bigger pump or a new pump as it is a very good solid pump,
if the fuse is good then the culprit is the pump connector on the other side where the cable gets T'ed behind the radiator which gets damaged and shuts the pump off intermittently,
an easy fix without removing the bumper etc..is to remove the center front grill (super easy) to have access to the connector on the other end (pump
side, easy access side),cut the power supply connector cable with the connector still attached to the pump, make a cable neg/positi using the connector, connect the black to any ground on the car and solder the positive on the 15amp fuse F36 (sc pump) with a cable extension, great majority of restricted performance due to pump malfunction are the power not being delivered to the pump and the SC overheating, the 12v needs to be taken from the fuse 36 as the pump should only run when the car is on .
