S Type Engine question.
On the 4. 0 or 4.2 engine, it is available with a "supercharger". It looks more like a turbocharger than a supercharger. Is the term supercharger a British term or something like that? A friend showed me the differences today and supercharged doesn't seem to match up. Any answers out there?
The 4.0L S-Type was never available with a supercharger.
The 4.2L S-Type R was supercharged.
The Jaguar V8's have never been turbocharged from the factory.
A supercharger is driven mechanically by the rotation of the crankshaft, using a belt system.
A turbocharger is driven by the flow of exhaust gases.
This is what a supercharged 4.2L in an S-Type R looks like:

The supercharger is in the V of the engine, under the intake pipe that runs over the top.
