Default Sad to say, time to go

To all the moderators, coordinators, hi-tech advisors and members of this great forum....

Sorry to say that a recently-diagnosed family illness is taking its toll. I have to say goodbye to you all and to my beautiful '05 STR. She is now back in the USA in the arms of someone who had to part with his old S-type after 285,000 miles. Price was US$9000, not quite what I wanted but OK.

It's been 6 educational and interesting years on the Jag forum. You guys taught me nearly everything there was to know about initial selection, trouble-shooting and performance upgrades of this car, and I really can't thank you enough. There are just too many names to mention, because you were always willing to take the time to offer advice, no matter how trivial the question.

So, here's the last pic of my ex-STR. With 84000 miles on the clock, everything was in working order. Damn! Best wishes to all.

Robin, sorry to see you go. Good luck in the future.
The sales price seems pretty good.

Can you share your method of selling the car? Thanks.

Thanks guys for your kind comments. My health is OK and I'll be visiting from time to time. And Mikey, I did appreciate your Thanks.

Story of the sale. My plumber came round to fix a pipe, admired the car, thought the price was OK, wanted it for his wife. She came over and LOVED the car, took it home overnight. However, they became concerned over what neighbours would say about a plumber's wife driving a Jaguar, and opted out. I was stunned.

So, on to Craigslist, after checking the prices of similar STR's in the USA. 4 or 5 inquiries in the next week, one serious. Car was going to be a Christmas present for a sibling in the USA. Price down to $9k from $9.5k. Test drive did it. He went to my indie for an inspection, indie told him not to waste his money because the car was immaculate. Done deal.

Hey Robin,

I hope your ailing family member has a speedy recovery. I am empathetic to how you must feel having to part with your cat on these terms, Stay positive my friend and make the most of any given situation.

Best regards,

R.j. B.
